Is Carpooling a better way to reduce Air pollution?

Air quality in Delhi has been going from bad to worse and the situation is "serious".

According to recent report of WHO Delhi is most polluted city in the world, the air in Delhi is twice as much toxic than Beijing which implies that Delhi Citizens are literally breathing poison.Delhi high court also gave a scachting remark on Delhi’s pollution that the level of pollution in Delhi is such that it is like people of delhiliving in a gas chamber.

Its very necessary to take steps to improve air pollution levels in the national capital, and support has been sought from various agencies and governments.

PM2.5 (particular matter) is considered as the best indicator of the level of health risks from air pollution. It has been consistently increased 16-20 times higher in Delhi than the prescribed standard. On 29th november PM2.5 recorded 48 times higher than the limit.
PM2.5 a particles which enters into the blood stream after penetrating lungs. It causes permanent lung damage and deaths due to air pollution.

Delhi government planning to bring the idea of ‘Odd-Even Number Plate Car Policy’ from 1st November. It means that the all vehicles with plate no. ending with odd and even no. will run on alternative days.

Carpooling is a good idea to curb rising pollution:

when 2 or more people share the same automobil to commute somewhere (office ,work,e.t.c) , saving petrol and money. Carpooling is an environmentally friendly and sustainable way to travel. As people shares journeys which reduces no of vehicles also & helps in reducing carbon emissions, traffic congestion on the roads. Authorities also encourage people to go for carpooling, especially during periods of high pollution, traffic congestion or high fuel prices.

Delhi's pollution: A major concern

Delhi's pollution: A major concern

There are more than 28 industrial areas in Delhi. Most of the small and medium scale industries don't have individual facilities to treat liquid waste.  Delhi IS entering its bitter battle against being the fourth most polluted city in the world. Rapid growth rate of industrialisation and migration has created many challenges for the municipality to overcome.

The unexpected growth in the number of vehicles in Delhi is a major concern as everyday over 1500 vehicles joining the line in Delhi? The city is regularly choked in thick fog as an array of traffic and heavy industries throw 3,000 ton of pollutants into the air everyday. Pollution from thermal power plants contributes 13 per cent of air pollution. The city could become impossible to live in because of air and water pollution.

The terrible air quality in the Indian capital has just became even worse due to large scale construction . There is a government body called Delhi Pollution Control Committee existing in Delhi (DPCC) basically established for controlling pollution in Delhi’s pollution. Emerging middle classes of Delhi will have to scale down expectations and start curbing their own polluting activities to avoid the prospect of the city becoming impossible to live in.

We, at greencar.ngo, are passionate about creating an environment friendly approach to commute by sharing a ride. Greencar.ngo provides a platform to Share a ride or Carpool to help reduce your carbon footprint.

How can we make India pollution free?

How can we make India pollution free?

Many Journalists have been asking the question : What will be Indias enviroment look like in 2020 ? Already India is one of the most polluted countries in the world? Air pollution in many Indian cities is also growing by leaps and bounds.

Increasing public transportation is the only way to solve this problem. All Indian cities should have more public transports and more importantly with hygiene. Thus makes commuters to use them effectively. Infrastructure is nearly zero here in our country
No proper integration of metro, rail and buses. We should introduce transportation for all types of class so that we could suceed.

Car pooling will also greatly help to curb air pollution. The government can pose ban on single person travelling in car in peak times and support for car pooling in major cities.
