Is Carpooling a better way to reduce Air pollution?

Air quality in Delhi has been going from bad to worse and the situation is "serious".

According to recent report of WHO Delhi is most polluted city in the world, the air in Delhi is twice as much toxic than Beijing which implies that Delhi Citizens are literally breathing poison.Delhi high court also gave a scachting remark on Delhi’s pollution that the level of pollution in Delhi is such that it is like people of delhiliving in a gas chamber.

Its very necessary to take steps to improve air pollution levels in the national capital, and support has been sought from various agencies and governments.

PM2.5 (particular matter) is considered as the best indicator of the level of health risks from air pollution. It has been consistently increased 16-20 times higher in Delhi than the prescribed standard. On 29th november PM2.5 recorded 48 times higher than the limit.
PM2.5 a particles which enters into the blood stream after penetrating lungs. It causes permanent lung damage and deaths due to air pollution.

Delhi government planning to bring the idea of ‘Odd-Even Number Plate Car Policy’ from 1st November. It means that the all vehicles with plate no. ending with odd and even no. will run on alternative days.

Carpooling is a good idea to curb rising pollution:

when 2 or more people share the same automobil to commute somewhere (office ,work,e.t.c) , saving petrol and money. Carpooling is an environmentally friendly and sustainable way to travel. As people shares journeys which reduces no of vehicles also & helps in reducing carbon emissions, traffic congestion on the roads. Authorities also encourage people to go for carpooling, especially during periods of high pollution, traffic congestion or high fuel prices.
